Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 3, 2026
Last material revision: April 3, 2026
This policy applies to residents of all jurisdictions, including the European Economic Area (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA).
This Privacy Policy describes how FAFSA Guide 2026, operated by Moises Lopez ("Site," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you visit this website. By using this Site you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information Collection
I do not personally collect any "Personally Identifiable Information" (PII) such as your name or social security number. Any data entered into our FAFSA calculators is processed locally in your browser and is not stored on our servers.
Log Files
Like most websites, we use log files to analyze trends and administer the site. This includes IP addresses, browser types, and timestamps. This data is not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
2. Google AdSense & Cookies
This site uses Google AdSense to serve advertisements. Google uses cookies (specifically the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the Internet.
- → Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- → For more information on how Google uses data, visit How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information. We may disclose information only in the following limited circumstances:
- → To comply with a valid legal process, court order, or government request
- → To protect the rights, property, or safety of this Site, its operator, or the public
- → To hosting and infrastructure providers who process data solely on our behalf under confidentiality obligations
4. Links to External Sites
This Site links to external resources including studentaid.gov, fsapartners.ed.gov, and third-party research publications. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
5. Children's Privacy
This Site is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this Site, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
6. Rights of EU / EEA Visitors (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you the following rights with respect to any personal data we process. Because this Site collects minimal personal data and does not store calculator inputs server-side, most of these rights can be exercised by clearing your browser cookies and cache. For data held by third-party processors (e.g. Google AdSense server logs), you may also exercise rights directly with those processors.
Right of Access (Art. 15)
You may request confirmation of whether we process personal data about you and, if so, a copy of that data along with information about how it is used.
Right to Rectification (Art. 16)
You may request correction of inaccurate personal data we hold about you.
Right to Erasure — "Right to Be Forgotten" (Art. 17)
You may request deletion of personal data we hold about you where there is no legitimate reason for us to continue processing it. For server log data retained by our hosting provider, we will pass your request to them.
Right to Restriction of Processing (Art. 18)
You may request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances, such as while a dispute about accuracy is resolved.
Right to Data Portability (Art. 20)
Where processing is based on your consent or a contract, you may request a copy of your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to Object (Art. 21)
You may object to processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests as the legal basis. You may always opt out of Google personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe your rights have been violated.
To exercise any GDPR right, contact us at the address in Section 9. We will respond within 30 days as required by Art. 12 GDPR.
7. Rights of California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grants you the following rights. We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond what is disclosed in Section 2 (Google AdSense).
Right to Know
You may request disclosure of: (a) the categories of personal information collected; (b) the categories of sources; (c) the business purpose for collection; (d) the categories of third parties with whom information is shared; and (e) the specific pieces of personal information collected about you.
Right to Delete
You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (e.g. legal compliance, security). Server log data is handled through our hosting provider, who we will notify of your deletion request.
Right to Correct
You may request correction of inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you.
Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the Google AdSense disclosure in Section 2. You may opt out of Google personalized ads at any time via Google Ads Settings.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information
We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by CPRA (e.g. SSNs, financial account data, precise geolocation, health information). Calculator inputs are processed locally in your browser only.
Right to Non-Discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights. Exercising these rights will not affect your ability to use this Site.
To submit a verifiable consumer request under CCPA/CPRA, contact us at the address in Section 9. We will acknowledge receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last material revision" date prominently at the top of this page. Material changes include new data collection practices, new third-party services, or changes to your rights procedures. Continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
